From Antichrist to the Danish Tourism Board
This was just too funny not to share, and it hits pretty close to home for me right now. The Onion offers up this look at what it might be like if the Danish Tourism Board were to utilize the talents of Lars Von Trier.
HE'S INFECTED!
I'm sick. I caught a cold somewhere along the way, and now I'm dealing with a sore throat and a runny nose. It's probably got something to do with my immune system coping with new viruses, as well as the crappy weather we're having over here. Seriously, it's snowed nearly every day since I arrived in Roskilde, and now this week it's started alternating between snow and rain, so that is fun. At any rate, the cold isn't so bad. It's just more annoying than anything else.
Let's see...what else can I blab about in this post? Well, CarrieLynn and I are already making plans for the weekend. So far, we're planning on seeing Shutter Island at some point (CANNOT WAIT! For those who don't know, I'm a HUGE Scorsese nerd). On Friday, we're going to geek out and have a nerdtastic double feature of Planet Hulk and the new Justice League animated movie (I believe it's an adaptation of Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely's Earth 2). We're also hoping to get together with our friends, Odul and Ates, to play some board games and just generally interact with some other people. Beyond that, though, no big plans. When the weather gets a little nicer, we're hoping to get into Copenhagen so we can explore the city a bit, as well as heading over to Sweden (among other places), but that's a ways off yet.
Otherwise, things are going smoothly. Work is good, I'm starting to learn my way around the city (the public transit system continues to stymie me a bit, but I'll get it!), and I'm only a little bit homesick so far. Thankfully, Skype helps to mitigate that feeling a bit. Anyway, more to come! Bye for now!

Settled In
So a full week has passed (more than a week, actually), and I finally feel like I'm settling in nicely. Every now and then I feel a bit of homesickness, mostly when I let my mind wander and I realize that I'm actually living in another country, but for the most part, I'm really enjoying my stay here. The flat is lovely, the city is quaint, and the people seem very nice. Plus, I'm here with CarrieLynn, so that helps. All in all, I'm looking forward to the rest of this adventure, but I am looking forward to going home again in August. Anyway, not much else to report, as we've been snowed in pretty much the entire time I've been here, but hopefully I'll be able to get out and explore more of the city, the country, and the surrounding area soon. Until then!

Workin' For the Man Every Night and Day!
Second day on the job went smoothly, and I even got some work done this time! Tomorrow we have a meeting in Copenhagen, and then we get to explore the city a bit. I'm a bit upset, though, as I don't have enough money to buy a couple tickets to the double feature of Flesh For Frankenstein and Blood For Dracula that's running at the Danish Film Institute. I was never a big fan of either movie, but I would LOVE to see them on the big screen with an audience, if for no other reason than it would be a great experience. Ah, well...such is life, I guess.

First Day on the Job!
Today was spent at the university, meeting my co-workers and familiarizing myself with the work environment. Everyone seems very nice, and while the job is definitely going to keep my busy for the next six months, it at least seems like it's going to be something I'll enjoy. Additionally, I pretty much get to set my own hours, so that's a plus.
Now I'm just reading this article about Bringing Up Baby that was published over at the AV Club, and then I'm going to grab some supper and probably do some reading before bedtime. Then it's off to work again in the morning!

One Day in Denmark Makes a Hard Man Smile
So I arrived in Denmark yesterday around noon. Had a pretty tasty hot dog at the airport, and got my bags back pretty much right away. CarrieLynn picked me up at the airport and then we took the train back to the apartment, and after a bit of drama that I don't really want to get into due to extreme embarrassment, we settled in quite nicely.
Spent our first evening walking around downtown Roskilde so I could get my bearings (which I still don't quite have), and then went to the store to get some bedding. After that, we came back to the apartment and snuggled on the couch while watching some more of the fourth season of Doctor Who (glad that I finally got to see "Voyage of the Damned"), and then talked to her parents via Skype. After that, we watched the latest episodes of 30 Rock (which was GREAT) and The Daily Show, and then I promptly passed out. Unfortunately, despite my extreme exhaustion, I still had a bit of a restless night, which led to me sleeping in VERY late today. Ugh.
Anyway, we had a pretty nice day today of just walking around the town (which is quite beautiful in a quaint sort of way), and doing some much-needed grocery shopping. Tonight, we will be spending an evening with our friends, Ates and Odul, and I am very much looking forward to that, as I haven't seen them since London. We're going out to eat, and maybe afterward, I'll be introducing everyone to Starfarers of Catan (I hope!). More tomorrow!

Today is the day!
So long America! I'll see you in six months. Please try to be slightly less insane by the time I return. If you could do that, I would be ever so grateful. Later!

Two days to go
Holy crap! Two days until I board a plane and leave for Denmark! This is nuts!
So for those who don't know, I'm moving to Denmark for six months, and I decided to start this here blog in order for my friends who don't use Facebook or Twitter to keep track of my travels and adventures.
Anyway, not much to say right now, as I am currently sitting in my apartment in Green Bay, Wisconsin, experiencing a mixture of emotions as I wait for Thursday to arrive. I'm feeling excited, nervous, hesitant, eager, and a whole lot more.
Thus, I think I will end this post for the time being, and will write more when I am sitting in my new apartment in Roskilde. Until then, my friends!
